20 most Instagrammable places in Morocco
2 weeks in Morocco, I was able to see some of the most instagrammable places in the country. I haven’t been everywhere, but I got a lot of memorable pictures from Morocco.
Marrakesh
1. The Koutoubia Mosque
The Koutoubia Mosque is the icon of Marrakesh. I do remember a few years after visiting Morocco, I went to Sevilla in Spain. It turned out that this 12th-century 75m-high tower was the prototype for the Giralda in Seville. I went to Park Lalla Hasna to take a picture of this landmark of Marrakesh. The location is here.
2. Le Jardin Majorelle
Probably a must-go place for visitors in Marrakesh. The garden took 40 years to build, and the French artist, Jacques Majorelle fell in love with Marrakesh when he first visited Morocco. Later the garden was restored by Yves Saint-Laurent, it is definitely one of the most beautiful gardens in Morocco. However, the garden can be sometimes crowded. Visitors start to swarm in the place from the early morning. If you want to have the garden by yourself, try to enter the garden as the first few people or stay until the premises is about to close. Check out their official website for the opening hours and prices. The precise location is here. For those of you that are interested in fashion, precisely, Yves Saint Laurent, you can purchase a combined ticket, but it is not cheap.
3. Anima Garden
Jardin Majorelle isn’t your thing? Too crowded? The artist André Heller fell in love with Marrakesh when he first time visited Morocco. He has decided to dedicate his whole life to the creation of a botanical garden. The garden is full of interesting and quirky art installations. You can visit their official website and book a ticket. The shuttle bus fee is included in the ticket price. Absolutely a must-visit when you want some peace from the bustling Marrakesh. The location is here.
Casablanca
3. Hussain II mosque
We were so excited to visit the Hussain II mosque (the largest mosque of Africa). Because of its unique location, many of its materials are used to absorb moisture and protect the building from the oxidation process from the ocean. It is definitely a magnificent place to be. Take a tour inside the mosque if you have time. It costs 130Dh (around 10 pounds updated in 2020) for an hour tour and you will be able to understand the design of the mosque better. You can take pictures inside, but without flash. The location is here
Tip: Check their official website for tour hours as the mosque is only open to non-Muslims for tours, there are 9, 10, 11, 12 in the morning and 3 pm in the afternoon.
Tip 2: You don’t need to take the tour to take pictures outside.
