Top 10 most instagrammable places to see in Baku, Azerbaijan
Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan. A city located in the Caucasus. Besides Russian, Middle Eastern tourists and some neighbouring country’s visitors, not many people have heard or ever wanted to visit this place. And this is the reason why I’m writing this blog to explore the gems that have been hidden for ages.
Let’s start with my favourite places in town…
1. Flame Towers
It is impossible to not notice these beautiful modern architectural buildings that have become an icon of Baku. Flame Towers symbolize the old Azeri religion before Islam, which is the religion of believing in the fire. Fire for most people is something very powerful, for the Azeri people fire represents the Holy Spirit of Ahura Mazda – the highest spirit in Persian Mythology.
There are two places to take some great pictures of the Flame Towers.
The first place is the famous Baku Panoramic View
Another place to take a great picture of the towers is the Palace of The Shirvanshahs Şirvanşahlar Sarayli
2. The Teze Pir Mosque
The Teze Pir Mosque is found by accident on google map. Since Baku is so unknown, there isn’t really any information about what is considered beautiful besides the old city and Baku flame towers.
I guess once you start to wander around and you will discover many gems that are hidden.
The location is here.
3. The Mosque of the Martyrs
I found a beautiful mosque just next to the Flame Towers. And next to the mosque of the Martyrs, there was a beautiful colourful window that I found beautiful. The location of the window is here.
4. Nizami Museum of Azerbaijan Literature
Even with just a slight interest in literature and poetry, this museum is a must if you visit Baku. The guide manages to paint a good picture of the history of the country from a literary perspective. Visiting the museum usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours. The price for foreigners is 10 manat, for students it is 2 manat. The location of the museum is here.
5. The beautiful facade of the Palace of The Shirvanshahs
Somewhere behind the Palace of The Shirvanshahs, there is a beautiful Islamic mosque facade. You don’t have to pay to get inside. After climbing the stairs, you will see this facade in front of you. The precise address is here
6. Azerbaijan Carpet Museum
I wouldn’t say that the museum is instagrammable, but still a place worth-mentioning. There are many interesting and fine carpets inside the museum. If you are a handcrafts fanatic, the museum is a must-go.
The post will be updated.
